Biography | Like most volunteers, Brian started as a touchline supporter watching his son play for Springside Colts back in 1980. It was a small step from watching to getting involved and before he knew it he was managing a new age ten team for the 1981 season.
Brian moved over to Crosshouse Boys Club in 1985, and, along with Davie Love, who later went on to scout for Kilmarnock F C, he started again at Crosshouse and the first advert for players brought some thirty or so strikers, the best ten year olds in the world -- according to them! Eventually they knitted and one of the players Brian is very proud to say went on to sign schoolboy forms with Kilmarnock F C and Gary Hay is still there as team captain.
At about this time he got involved with the committee of CAYFA, as a seconded member.
Over the next few years he helped to build Crosshouse Boys Cub and to develop the initiatives of the Association in tandem with the other dedicated people involved..
Moving through the positions of Minute Secretary, General Secretary and eventually President of the Association, he gained lots of experience and following a suggestion made by one of our members, investigated and eventually instigated with the rest of the committee the small sided game in Ayshire.
Then along came the SYFA and, he became a Council Member of that body in it's formative years and Chairman of the South West Regional Committee
Despite retiring a few years ago,he was invited back as President once again at the start of season 2006/ 7.
His belief is that grass roots football should be as enjoyable as possible for the players, and be made as easy as possible for the people who coach and manage teams.
The experience he has gained in over twenty years of involvement leaves him well placed to lead this Association.
